Overnight into 9 October drones disabled several modules of a Yandex data center near Kaluga; Zelensky called it a "symmetrical response" and announced strikes on the Omsk and Ukhta refineries.
Overnight into 9 October, drones attacked a Yandex data center in Kaluga Oblast, the Kyiv Independent reports. The company said several modules were disabled, some services may be disrupted and the full extent of the damage is still being assessed. No one was hurt at the facility itself. Volunteers Support Ukraine summarises what is known as of the morning of 10 October.
This is the second attack on a Yandex data center in two days: on 8 October a drone caused a fire at a site in Sasovo, Ryazan Oblast, which houses tens of thousands of servers. According to Kaluga Governor Vladislav Shapsha, nine people were injured in the overnight drone attack and houses were damaged in two districts. Russian authorities claim they shot down 26 drones. Ukraine has not publicly claimed responsibility for the Kaluga strike specifically.
The same day, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Facebook that Ukraine's Defense Forces hit the Omsk refinery again and struck the Ukhta refinery, roughly 1,900 km from the Ukrainian border. He said Ukhta was targeted with An-196 RS drones with a range of about 2,500 km, and Omsk with FP-6 drones, modified FP-1s. "Another data center was hit as well – our symmetrical response," he wrote, calling it "an important display of accuracy by our warriors."

Independent confirmation of the results of the refinery strikes is not yet available in open sources, so these details are given as the president stated them.

Strikes on oil infrastructure continued: overnight into 10 October a fire broke out at an oil terminal in Rostov-on-Don, according to media reports. Local authorities confirmed the fire and air-defence activity, and the Ukrainian military has not claimed it. Zelensky has said before that Ukraine is ready to stop hitting russian energy facilities if moscow stops attacking Ukrainian energy.
