Overnight on 6 October 650 drones flew toward the Moscow region, Sobyanin said. Monitoring channels report a fire at the Volodarsk oil depot.
Overnight on 6 October, at least 650 Ukrainian drones flew toward the Moscow region, according to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin. Russian state media called it the largest drone attack on the region in two years. Volunteers Support Ukraine sets out what is known and what is still unconfirmed.

Sobyanin said that between 20:30 on 5 October and 05:00 on 6 October, 650 drones flew toward the Moscow region; most were destroyed at a distance, he said, and another 105 were shot down as they approached Moscow. He did not report any damage or casualties.
Meanwhile the Telegram channel Exilenova Plus and the independent Russian outlet ASTRA report a fire at the Volodarsk linear production and dispatch station near the village of Konstantinovo, about 40 km from central Moscow. It is the largest oil depot in the Moscow region: roughly 3 million tonnes of petroleum products pass through it each year, and pipelines connect it to Vnukovo, Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo airports. The Kyiv Independent said it could not immediately verify these reports, so details may be refined.

On 4 October Ukraine's Defense Ministry said long-range strikes had disabled over 51% of Russia's oil refining capacity. Meanwhile Russia keeps attacking Ukrainian cities and civilian infrastructure.
Oil depots and pipelines supply fuel to the army and to airports, which makes strikes on them among the most sensitive for Russia. NGO Volunteers Support Ukraine keeps helping people affected by the war as far as its resources allow.
