Overnight on Aug. 27, Russia launched one of the most massive strikes on Ukraine since the start of the full-scale war, attacking at least nine cities with missiles and drones. People were killed in Zaporizhzhia and Kharkiv regions, dozens were wounded, and residential buildings, schools, a medical facility and energy infrastructure were damaged.
Odesa region was under attack for more than seven hours straight. A 16-story residential building, two educational institutions, a private home, a grain elevator, garages and vehicles were all damaged. At least nine people were injured, including two 16-year-old teenagers. Rescuers worked multiple fire sites simultaneously.
In Kharkiv, a drone struck a shopping mall in the Osnovianskyi district — one person was killed and five others were injured. In Kyiv, damage was recorded in four districts — Desnianskyi, Obolonskyi, Podilskyi and Shevchenkivskyi — with residential buildings, a school and a medical facility affected. The capital's air-raid alert sounded 13 times in a single day.
In Poltava region's Kremenchuk district, industrial enterprises were attacked, and in Myrhorod district an energy facility was hit, temporarily leaving residents of seven settlements without power. In total, Russia used 258 attack drones, two Oniks anti-ship missiles, and Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles that night.
