The US-Ukraine Reconstruction Investment Fund (URIF) has presented its first critical minerals project, along with several energy investments.
The US-Ukraine Reconstruction Investment Fund (URIF) has announced its first project in critical minerals. It is good news for Ukraine's economy, and Volunteers Support Ukraine follows such developments closely, because a resilient economy helps the country hold on through wartime.

The fund will set up a "joint investment platform" with the Ukrainian company BGV Group, which will build a diverse portfolio of early-stage mining projects across Ukraine. The initial focus is on identifying deposits of rare earths, beryllium and zirconium. This part of the deal is reportedly worth around $30 million.

Beyond minerals, the fund announced roughly $70 million in energy investments. They include expanding DTEK's €85 million energy storage project, a 200-megawatt system able to power 600,000 homes for two hours, and a combined heat and power platform for community-scale energy hubs.

The announcement involved First Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Oleksii Sobolev. For a country whose energy system is hit almost daily, fresh investment in generation and storage carries particular weight.
Volunteers Support Ukraine keeps helping people affected by the war in the ways its available resources allow, and warmly welcomes every step that strengthens Ukraine's economy.
