russian guided aerial bombs struck a residential neighbourhood in Zaporizhzhia on the morning of 10 October. According to updated figures from regional authorities and the State Emergency Service, 20 people were killed, three of them children, and 32 were injured, including three children. 11 October was declared a day of mourning in the city.
Around 5 a.m. the Air Force warned that tactical aircraft had launched guided bombs toward the city. Authorities say five of them hit Zaporizhzhia, nearly destroying parts of residential buildings and trapping people under the rubble. One bomb partially destroyed an apartment block, with sections collapsing down to the second floor, said acting regional governor Mykhailo Semikin. In total, 26 residential buildings were damaged.

Rescuers cleared rubble throughout the day despite the risk of a repeat strike. One woman was pulled out after roughly eight hours trapped. Interior Minister Ivan Vyhivskyi noted that several people remained unreachable and that the attack was aimed at ordinary homes and families with children.

The day before, on 9 October, guided bombs had already hit residential areas of Zaporizhzhia, killing at least one person and injuring seven, including a child. Overall, 13 regions of Ukraine came under attack in the night to 10 October.
