After a drone attack in Vladimir Oblast, outages spread across Yandex services in russia and neighbouring countries.
Overnight into Sunday, 11 October, drones attacked a Yandex data center in the russian city of Vladimir. Media reports say a large fire broke out in the Energetik neighbourhood. It is the third attack on the company's data centers within a week: on 8 October the target was Sasovo in Ryazan Oblast, and the next day Kaluga Oblast.

According to russian media citing the company, the data center in Vladimir Oblast stopped working entirely after the attack, though the extent of the damage cannot yet be verified independently. Yandex Cloud had already reported power interruptions in one availability zone earlier in the morning. The outage hit Yandex Go: taxi ordering was disrupted across russia and in Serbia, Kazakhstan, Belarus and Armenia, and Yandex Pro was unavailable. Users also reported problems with the Fix Price and Magnit apps and with Yandex Pay.
The company itself acknowledged that it is still assessing its infrastructure and that it is "very difficult to give a timeline" for restoring equipment.
On 10 October Yandex added drone and missile attacks to the force majeure circumstances in its user agreement. On 8 October Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukraine "always responds in kind" to russian strikes on Ukrainian data centers.
For people who live through shelling every day, news like this is one piece of the wider picture of the war. Volunteers Support Ukraine keeps helping those affected by it in whatever way its resources allow.
