A Russian strike on the "Gulliver" shopping center in central Pavlohrad killed at least five people and injured 67 others, including children.
On Sept. 10, 2026, at around 4:25 p.m., a Russian attack drone struck the "Gulliver" shopping and entertainment center in central Pavlohrad, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. The strike hit at the height of the day, when the streets and shops were full of people. According to updated figures, at least five people were killed and 67 injured — eight of them children. The weapon hit the very center of the city at a time when the shopping area was packed with visitors. The blast destroyed shops, retail pavilions and cars, and part of the adjacent street sustained heavy damage. Among the wounded were three teenage boys aged 13, 14 and 15.
Firefighting units of Dnipropetrovsk region's State Emergency Service battled the large-scale blaze. Two rescuers were injured while responding but continued working at the scene, clearing debris and putting out fires among the destroyed retail rows.
Regional authorities reported that, across Dnipropetrovsk region that day, 76 people were affected by Russian attacks and seven were killed — most of the casualties concentrated in the Pavlohrad strike. The shopping center and neighboring pavilions were largely destroyed by fire.
Pavlohrad is a typical rear-area city with no military facilities on a scale comparable to the strike it suffered. An attack on a civilian shopping area in the middle of an ordinary day is one more example that no city in Ukraine feels safe from the war Russia is waging against it.
Volunteers Support Ukraine keeps helping people affected by the war in whatever way its available resources allow. The tragedy in Pavlohrad is another reminder of why supporting affected civilians across the country remains an urgent need.
