For a second night running, Russia attacked Kyiv Oblast with jet-powered drones — over two days, fire and debris damaged 17 warehouse facilities, 19 private homes and three apartment buildings. Across Ukraine, at least 10 people were killed and 43 others injured over the past 24 hours.
The strikes hit the Fastiv, Vyshhorod, Boryspil, Brovary and Bucha districts — explosions and fires among warehouse complexes forced authorities to temporarily close the M-06 Kyiv–Chop highway. Firefighters worked under the constant threat of renewed strikes: the region sounded 20 air raid alerts overnight alone.
Overnight into Aug. 28, Russia launched 164 Shahed-type strike drones at Ukraine, half of them jet-powered; Ukraine's air defense shot down 137 of them.
The hardest-hit areas over the past day were Dnipropetrovsk (2 killed, 8 injured), Kherson (1 killed, 11 injured), Sumy (2 killed, 5 injured) and Kharkiv (2 killed, 4 injured) oblasts. Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk oblasts also came under attack.
The fires also disrupted civilian logistics — among the sites hit was a book warehouse serving several Ukrainian publishers and bookstores.
