According to preliminary reports, one of the bombs landed near medical facilities in an area with heavy foot and vehicle traffic, while the remaining strikes hit infrastructure sites. At least seven civilian cars were damaged, burning out in the open on city streets. The July 15 attack followed strikes the evening before: on July 14, Russia had already hit Sumy with cluster munitions, damaging at least ten private homes in a low-rise residential area. Police investigative teams, explosive ordnance specialists, and forensic experts worked both impact sites, gathering evidence for the war crimes investigation.
One of the strikes hit a multi-story administrative building in the city center, blowing out windows on several floors and damaging the facade and entrance. Volunteers at Volunteers Support Ukraine note that strikes like this on civilian infrastructure in regional centers have become close to a daily reality for regions bordering Russia.
