Ukraine's General Staff reports strikes on an ammunition depot in Volodymyrivka, a materiel depot in Ocheretyne, and a weapons concentration in Rechitsa, Bryansk Oblast.
Ukraine's Defense Forces hit a series of Russian military targets, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on September 2. The strikes took place on September 1 and overnight into September 2, covering both temporarily occupied areas of Donetsk Oblast and Russian territory itself. According to the General Staff, Ukrainian forces struck an ammunition depot in Volodymyrivka in Donetsk Oblast and a depot holding materiel and equipment belonging to a Russian army unit in Ocheretyne. A further strike hit an area where weapons and military equipment were concentrated in the settlement of Rechitsa in Russia's Bryansk Oblast, roughly 58 kilometers from the state border. The extent of the damage is still being assessed, the General Staff said, adding that operations against key enemy military facilities continue.
Strikes on logistics — ammunition, fuel and materiel depots — steadily complicate the supply of Russian formations at the front, which is why they have become one of the Defense Forces' priorities in recent months.
The same day, the General Staff officially confirmed the results of two earlier operations: the destruction of a Russian MiG-29 fighter jet near Millerovo airfield in Rostov Oblast on August 27, and of a Ka-27 helicopter near Yeysk airfield in Krasnodar Krai on August 30. Both confirmations followed additional verification of surveillance data.
The Ka-27 is a Soviet-designed shipborne helicopter that Russia uses for anti-submarine warfare and search-and-rescue missions in the Black and Azov Seas.
Ukraine's unmanned systems units are increasing the tempo of strikes on Russian rear-area facilities — from ammunition depots in occupied territories to logistics and aviation assets deep inside Russia.
