On the night of 26 June, Russia launched a massive combined strike on Ukraine. Here is what is known about the aftermath.

What happened

On the night of 26 June 2026, Russia launched a massive combined strike on Ukraine — dozens of missiles and hundreds of drones. Air defence shot down or suppressed 642 aerial targets: 40 missiles and 602 drones of various types.

The aftermath

At least four people were killed and more than 50 wounded, including children. In Kyiv, columns of smoke rose from numerous fires after the attack; traffic was temporarily closed in several districts of the capital, where rescuers, medics and utility crews were working.

By morning, hits were recorded from 30 ballistic and three cruise missiles and 33 strike drones across 38 locations. The Dnipropetrovsk region was also hit hard.

A strike in return

That same night, drone attacks on Moscow were reported.

Why it matters

Every massive attack is, above all, about people: the killed, the wounded, the destroyed homes. As long as the strikes continue, support for civilians and defenders remains critically important. We carry on with our work, and we thank everyone standing with us.
