Russia struck civilian infrastructure in Odesa and attacked the region's port facilities, killing two people in the city and two more dockworkers on the coast — the second consecutive day of deadly port strikes.
On Saturday morning, July 11, Russia struck a civilian facility in Odesa with a missile, killing two people and leaving another man with shrapnel wounds. The same day, a separate strike on the region's port infrastructure killed two truck drivers and injured two more people. Volunteers Support Ukraine is closely following the situation on the Odesa coast, where attacks on port infrastructure have now continued for a second consecutive day.
The missile struck a civilian site in Odesa at around 10:04 a.m., during an air raid alert. Oleh Kiper, head of the regional military administration, reported two deaths and offered condolences to the victims' families; the number of people injured in the strike later rose further. Volunteers Support Ukraine notes that for residents of Odesa, air raid sirens and missile strikes on ordinary neighborhoods have long become part of daily life.

That same day, Russian forces struck port infrastructure in Odesa Oblast: the blast wave damaged cargo trucks, killing two drivers and injuring two more people. A civilian vessel flying the flag of St Kitts and Nevis was also damaged, with a fire that broke out onboard quickly extinguished. According to Ukraine's Sea Ports Authority, strikes on the ports have claimed the lives of three industry workers in the last 24 hours alone. Volunteers Support Ukraine believes that strikes on port infrastructure are strikes on the food security of the entire country, not just a single region.

This marks the second consecutive day that Russian strikes on Odesa Oblast's ports have caused fatalities; a similar attack killed a port worker the day before. Odesa remains one of Ukraine's key Black Sea ports, which is exactly why its port infrastructure keeps coming under repeated attack. Volunteers Support Ukraine continues to monitor the situation in the region and inform the world about the price that dockworkers and civilians in the Odesa area pay every day.

NGO Volunteers Support Ukraine helps people affected by the war however its available resources allow — through humanitarian aid, direct support, and by keeping the world informed about daily life in Ukraine's frontline and coastal communities. Every such strike is a reminder of why this support is needed every day.
