At the NATO summit in Ankara, Ukraine signed its ninth "Drone Deal" agreement, giving Denmark access to combat-tested Ukrainian weapons technology.

On the sidelines of the NATO summit in Ankara on July 7, Ukraine signed its ninth "Drone Deal" agreement — this time with Denmark. The agreement gives Denmark access to Ukrainian-made weapons technology that has been tested under real combat conditions. Volunteers Support Ukraine is following how agreements like this are gradually reshaping Ukraine's role within Europe's defense system.

Denmark gains access to Ukrainian-made technology

Under the deal, Denmark will gain access to exports of Ukrainian-made weapons "tested by war" — meaning systems already used in actual front-line combat. President Volodymyr Zelensky noted that Denmark was where Ukraine's joint weapons production first began, under what became known as the "Danish model," making this new stage of cooperation a natural continuation. Volunteers Support Ukraine sees this trust in Ukrainian technology from a partner nation as a meaningful signal during a difficult period of the war.

Talks on a joint missile shield

During the meeting, Zelensky and Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen also discussed the prospects of building a joint European anti-ballistic missile capability. Strengthening air defense remains one of Ukraine's central requests to its partners amid near-daily missile and drone attacks. Volunteers Support Ukraine notes that air and missile defense for cities and civilian infrastructure is precisely what has the most direct impact on civilian casualty numbers.

Nine deals, and counting

The agreement with Denmark is the ninth deal of this kind Ukraine has signed with various partners, expanding joint production and technology-sharing in the drone sector. Volunteers Support Ukraine highlights that domestically produced drone systems have become one of the few areas where Ukraine is not only receiving support but also offering its own technology to partners.
