The Dutch defense minister announced €150 million in new funding to strengthen Ukraine's air defense, as Russian aerial attacks intensify.
The Netherlands has announced €150 million in new funding to strengthen Ukraine's air defense. Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans made the announcement at a meeting of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine, saying the funds will "further assist Ukraine in defending its sky."
The new funding is aimed directly at air defense systems, coming amid intensified Russian aerial attacks and a direct request from President Zelensky for additional air defense support. The pledge builds on the Netherlands' existing commitments to the joint "Drone Line" project with the United Kingdom, for which €500 million had previously been allocated to build up unmanned capabilities along the front line.

The Netherlands remains one of Ukraine's most consistent European partners, from air defense systems and drones to armored vehicles. The country has previously supplied Ukraine with PzH2000 howitzers and has taken part in programs to deliver F-16 fighter jets.

The announcement came alongside meetings between Dutch officials and NATO partners discussing further coordination of weapons deliveries and financing for Ukraine's defense needs in the coming months.

Beyond direct aid to Ukraine, the Netherlands also supports the collective security of NATO's eastern flank by deploying its own fighter jets to reinforce allied air policing.

Every new round of air defense funding is a real chance to intercept one more missile or drone before it reaches a residential block, a hospital, or a school. Volunteers Support Ukraine welcomes this support from partners and continues its own work helping communities that face the consequences of aerial attacks every day.
