The General Staff says Ukrainian troops used the Oleshky humanitarian ceasefire to evacuate 167 residents of riverside settlements, 22 of them children. Ombudsman Lubinets announced the ceasefire has ended.
The ceasefire introduced for the humanitarian mission in Oleshky has ended, Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets announced on 2 November. It ran from 03:00 on 27 October until 1 November. Separately, the General Staff said that during this time Ukrainian troops evacuated another 167 civilians from the right bank of Kherson region.

According to the General Staff, these are residents of settlements along the Dnipro on Ukrainian-held territory who had been shelled every day and until now had no chance to leave dangerous areas. Of the 167 evacuees, 22 are children and 21 have limited mobility. Volunteers Support Ukraine is glad for every family brought to safety and respects those who organise such journeys.

Civil-military cooperation units of the Pivden (South) group of forces worked with local authorities to move people to safer places in Kherson region. The routes ran past mines, wrecked roads and burnt-out vehicles, so progress was slow and demanded extra caution. The General Staff stressed that its units strictly observed the ceasefire.

Lubinets called the completed stage an important step in joint humanitarian efforts with russian ombudsperson Yana Lantratova: he said both sides honoured their commitments, so aid reached Oleshky and civilians could leave safely. He added that they are working on ways to continue such efforts and stressed the importance of preserving this mechanism of cooperation.

NGO Volunteers Support Ukraine continues to help people affected by the war in whatever way its resources allow.
